Known for his good rapport with co-stars, Varun Dhawan recently addressed allegations that he sometimes crosses boundaries with female co-stars, including Kiara Advani and Alia Bhatt. Varun has shared screen space with Kiara in Jugjugg Jeeyo, and he and Alia have acted together in films such as Student of the Year, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, and Kalank.

During a conversation with Shubhankar Mishra, Varun clarified his stance, saying, “Chhedam-chhaadi, if it is done in a happy space, a good space, whether it is a man or a woman… I have fun with my male co-stars as well, but nobody mentions that.” Addressing a particular incident involving a photo shoot with Kiara, where he kissed her, Varun explained, “I’m glad you asked me this. It was planned. Both Kiara and I posted that clip. It was for a digital cover, and they wanted some movement and action, so we planned that.” When it was noted that Kiara seemed surprised by the kiss, Varun responded, “She’s a good actress. It was completely planned. I’ll admit when things weren’t planned.”

In another instance, Varun was seen pushing Kiara into a pool, a prank he admitted was unplanned. He said, “That I did on purpose. It was all in good fun. It wasn’t planned. That’s just my nature, I guess.” Similarly, Varun was seen grabbing Alia by the waist, and he explained, “I did it in fun. It wasn’t flirting. We’re friends.”

Varun Dhawan about his personal life

On a more personal note, Varun recently reflected on the sudden passing of his long-time driver, Manoj, who had been with him for 26 years. He revealed that the tragedy deeply altered his perspective on life, pulling him out of the ‘bubble’ he had been living in. During a conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia on his YouTube channel, Varun shared how he once viewed life through an idealistic lens, believing he understood it. However, Manoj’s death marked a turning point. He said, “My life can be divided into before and after the age of 35.” Struggling with emotion, he admitted he felt like he had failed in living up to the hero role he often portrayed onscreen.
